Discover the exceptional Pureza Moscatel from Pepe Mendoza, a unique orange wine from the coastal 'Tierras de la Marina' in Alicante, Spain. This wine is crafted from 100% Moscatel grapes, macerated for 6 days on skins, then fermented with stems and skins in 220-300 litre clay amphorae. The result is a white wine with a red wine soul, far from typical Moscatel.
Pureza Moscatel boasts a heady jasmine scent, nuanced with menthol. The nose is skinsy, spicy, oily, and layered, offering notes of dried rose petal, preserved lemon, cardamom-curry, fermented lime skin, and a touch of artichoke. On the palate, it's short of mid-weight but deeply textured, expansive, savoury-salty, skinsy, delicate, and open. The clay buzz of the amphora meets the brine buzz of the Mediterranean in this extraordinary wine.
